Nova Sintra, 9 Oct (Inforpress) – The fishermen of Fajã d’Água, Furna and Lomba, on the island of Brava, today called on the Government to install hoists for boats in fishing areas, in order to prevent material damage, especially in times of bad weather.
In a statement to Inforpress, Helena Baptista, the owner of a fishing boat and resident in Fajãdágua, said that fishermen face serious difficulties due to the absence of a hoist winch for boats in the locality.
According to the same source, fishermen only have a makeshift ramp built between the rocks, in collaboration with the former municipal team, but which does not offer any guarantees of safety when the sea is shaken.
“In our locality, we really need a hoist winch for boats as soon as possible. All fishermen pay their licences and, in my view, we have at least the right to a suitable ramp,” she argued.
